The controversial and socially critical topic of climate change and the associated facets of social, ecological and economic sustainability are currently not yet treated and discussed with enough focus. Especially at a university that educates the generations of tomorrow, a basic lecture on this topic should not be missing. Therefore, the student-organised "Grundvorlesung ökologische Nachhaltigkeit" (Ecological Sustainability Lecture) has been offered since the winter semester of 2021. All university members of TU Dresden as well as all interested people can attend the event. This is also possible from other locations, as the event is available for digital access and can thus also be integrated into various educational programmes.
The event series is primarily aimed at people who want to acquire basic knowledge on the topic, as well as the ability to think reflectively and critically and to conceptualise creative solutions. Nevertheless, it is suitable for people with prior knowledge, as ecological acting and thinking is shown from diverse and interdisciplinary perspectives. For students, there is also the possibility to link content with their own degree-specific topics.
We are pleased that the Society of Friends and Supporters of TU Dresden has recognised the potential of the lecture on ecological sustainability and honoured our work with this award. We would like to thank them and use their support as an incentive to continue the lecture and improve its quality.
