Dealing with harassment, discrimination and violence
TU Dresden understands the diversity of life realities and perspectives as represented by its students and employees as an enrichment for education, research and campus life.
In the spirit of taking collective responsibility, the aim is to create a study and work environment that enables successful individual participation in an environment that is sensitive to discrimination and barriers. In line with its diversity-oriented, inclusive and transformative claim, TU Dresden therefore relies on appreciative and respectful interaction with one another.
TU Dresden's house rules therefore state:"Behavior that endangers or disrupts the peaceful and respectful interaction between members, associates and guests of the university and the free and tolerant climate of the university must be refrained from. This applies in particular to the use of signs, symbols and items of clothing that are unconstitutional, racist, xenophobic, glorify violence or show contempt for other people."
TU Dresden also fulfills its duty of care by setting up a complaints office for incidents of harassment, discrimination and violence, which is open not only to employees but also to students in accordance with the "Guideline on Dealing with Harassment, Discrimination and Violence". TU Dresden's Compliance Management System is supplemented with regard to integrity.
TU Dresden thus encourages all members and associates of TU Dresden to speak up when incidents of (sexualized) harassment, discrimination and violence occur.
Those affected and/or their relatives, persons who have observed or perpetrated discriminatory behavior, can contact the complaints office, also anonymously, to receive advice on how to deal with the situation. This can be a referral to appropriate, possibly external advice centers, the joint search for alternative interventions or the initiation of an official complaints procedure. Information on the complaints procedure can be found here. Information on harassing, discriminatory or violent behavior can also be reported without providing a name using the TUD's digital BKMS® whistleblowing system.
In addition, associate members of TU Dresden regularly have the opportunity to take part in various empowerment, awareness-raising and exchange formats.
People who wish to share their specific experiences of discrimination in a group context in a protected environment or provide other information on the prevention of harassment, discrimination and violence are very welcome to report incidents of harassment, discrimination and violence to the contact person.
