Visibility of female scientists at TUD
Let’s make women in science more visible!
TUD is diverse and international, excels in research, is innovative in teaching, and is committed to society. Through everything we do and strive for, we aim to make an impact for a better future. An important aspect of this is the visibility and recognition of women’s achievements in science.
The measures to raise the visibility of women in science are aligned with the goals of TUD’s Equality Concept.
Female researchers are to be made more visible through innovative formats of science communication, such as naming sponsorships, events, or print publications. Future initiatives are intended not only to raise awareness of their achievements but also to serve as inspiration for students and the entire academic community.
Current Measures
- Participation in events and networking within the meta-project “Focus on Innovative Women”
- HERstory Calendar Series
- Promotional Video “Research, Teach, Inspire—Female Professors at TU Dresden” (2025)
Raising the Visibility of Pioneers
In recent years, there has been an increased focus on researching the lives of women from the past who shaped our university through their work and blazed extraordinary trails as trailblazers in science.
- A particularly significant milestone was the dedication of the first women’s memorial at TUD in May 2023 in honor of Johanna and Gertrud Wiegandt.
- Historical female scholars have been honored as namesakes, such as in the Johanna Weinmeister Campus or the Charlotte Bühler Program.
- Workshop“WikiWomen in Science: Creating Visibility, Sharing Stories” in collaboration with the Women@DDc Network
In the future as well, the significant and inspiring role of women in the history and present of TUD will be made more visible through further initiatives. Future measures are intended not only to raise awareness of their achievements but also to serve as inspiration for our students and the entire academic community.
