Visibility of women scientists at TUD
Making women in science visible! TU Dresden is committed to making the achievements and role of women in science visible and honouring them.
In recent years, we have increasingly focussed on researching historical women who have shaped our university through their work and who have broken new ground as pioneers in science.
- A particularly significant milestone was the inauguration of the first "Frauenort" at TU Dresden in May 2023 in honour of Johanna and Gertrud Wiegandt.
- Historical female scientists were positioned as namesakes, such as the Johanna Weinmeister Campus or the Charlotte Bühler Program.
- In December 2023, the calendar "Bright minds have no gender - historical female doctoral candidates at TU Dresden" was published, which presents 12 historical female doctoral candidates at TU Dresden.
- With the Science Slam, which takes place annually on the Long Night of Science (review of 2023), we not only want to inspire enthusiasm for the diversity of science, but also put female scientists in the spotlight.
In the future, the significant and inspiring role of women in the history and present of TU Dresden will be made more visible through further initiatives. Future measures should not only raise awareness of their achievements, but also serve as inspiration for our students and the entire academic community.
