At the beginning there will be an input lecture by Dr habil. Solvejg Nitzke (University of Bochum), the actual film will start at around 20:30. The film will be shown in the original Japanese with German subtitles. Admission free!
Almost the entire world is overgrown by the ‘Sea of Rot’, by strange poisonous fungi and frightening giant insects. People still live in some valleys, including the ‘Valley of the Winds’, where Princess Nausicaä and her father rule peacefully. Nausicaä repeatedly undertakes expeditions into the rot-infested areas in order to better understand the life there and find ways of harmonious coexistence. She has a mysterious bond with nature that gives her a special feeling for the animals and plants. But then the peaceful valley is attacked by a neighbouring tribe and Nausicaä's father is killed in the battle. Now it is up to the young princess to lead her people into war so that evil and tyranny can be defeated forever. The future of the earth and nature also depends on the outcome of the battle...
