Cloud storage (Datashare, formerly Cloudstore)
With the Datashare service, ZIH provides a cloud-based storage for Sync&Share. Data stored within can be synchronized (Sync) between different devices, such as PCs, laptops, tablets or smartphones and shared with others (Share).
Features

- Sharing files with other people and groups (who do not need to be Datashare users or even TUD members) via links / URLs - even with password protection
- Access with ZIH login
- Integration of external storages (S3 and group drives)
Comparison with dropbox
- With Datashare, the data is stored entirely on the ZIH.
- The software for Datashare runs on computers of the ZIH.
- According to the Saxon Data Protection Act, which is relevant to the TU Dresden, there is currently no legal framework protecting you via the use of Dropbox as the data processed by Dropbox is in a cloud in non-European countries.
Service Offer
The service is free of charge for employees and students of the TU Dresden.
With your ZIH login, you have direct access to Datashare.
The following memory space is available per person:
Employees: 20 GB
Students: 10 GB

Important Tips
- The data stored in the Datashare is not backed up by the ZIH (Backup). In extreme cases, if the system fails, the data may be lost. The user is responsible for securing the data elsewhere. (e.g. Backup of the ZIH)
- When using the Nextcloud client, always ensure that the latest version is installed. Depending on the operating system, the client may not be updated automatically.

Group drives

Sharepoint
Microsoft Sharepoint is a web-based platform for group collaboration (managing, editing and sharing of information). You can find more information on this on the Microsoft SharePoint page.
Platform for Software Development
Platform for Software Development: collaboration platform for environments in which software is developed (version controller, bug tracker, wiki, file releases)
Datashare

Group drive
- accessible by connecting as a network drive
- With the protocols Samba / CIFS or NFS

MS SharePoint
- Document storage with version and authorization management, blocking for the use of documents, offline synchronization option (Windows only)
- Full-text search / indexing
- Wiki, calendar, task scheduling, Blogs
- Appointments, contacts, lists
- Team sites or Project sites
- Supported browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari
Datashare
- Is automatically set up once the enrollment documents have been handed in or at the beginning of the employment contract. They are activated with activation of the personal login.
Group drive
- Provisioning via the self-service portal at the TU Dresden
- Logins given by the applicant are entered into the Samba-Server or are provided with NTFS Rights by the appropriate administrator.
MS SharePoint
- Application for SharePoint through the self-service portal of the TU Dresden
- Required authorization concept as an Excel-Document

- The ZIH logins must be activated.
- Conditions of data protection must be respected.
- In SharePoint, data can be processed up to the "high" protection requirement. For all other services mentioned here, data with the protection requirement "normal" can be processed. The protection requirement is determined in accordance with the Richtlinie zur Informationssicherheit (information security policy). The process owners are responsible for determining the protection requirement..
- Notices of the administrators must be followed.

Prerequisite
Shared storage and MS SharePoint require a user and group management with TU Dresdens IDM.
Free for members of the TU Dresden (students and employees). For shared storages with more than 1 TB capacity, costs may be incurred.
Provisioning Time:
- The Datashare access is included in the basic services and is established together with the ZIH login.
- Group drives/SharePoint sites are usually set up within one work week after submission of all necessary documents.
