Description
Creation of online material for the course: ‘Einführung in
die Systemtheorie’ (Introduction to Systems Theory)
Objectives:
- To maintain similarity to usual on-site courses
- To motivate and support independent asynchronous study of the subject matter
- To develop new didactic ideas for teaching
Platforms:
- OPAL for course registration, updates for the students via e-mail and incorporation of the course website (in OPAL) for all learning content https://bildungsportal.sachsen.de/opal/auth/RepositoryEntry/6621167642
- Course website with all relevant information and a table updated with learning resources weekly https://tu-dresden.de/ing/elektrotechnik/ifn/tnt/studium/lv/einfuehrung-systemtheorie
- ZIH web space for providing screencast audio/video files of lectures, practicals and tutorials.
Course design and methods
Lectures
- Distribution of lecture slides and chalkboard images as PDF files (LaTeX Beamer, example: esysth_vorlesung.pdf)

Practicals and tutorials
- Exercises distributed as PDF files (pdflatex)
- Hints and short descriptions of solutions as PDF files (pdflatex, example: systh_einf_u04.pdf)
- Detailed solutions with slides (LaTeX Beamer, pdflatex) as screencast audio/video files (kazam, example – for instructions on how to play the file, please see the notes below)
- Use of various digital documents such as fade in and fade out of texts, formulas and images, new didactic methods for improving independent study (see example: systh_einf_3-23.pdf)
Weekly schedule during the semester:
(Information about online teaching for the students)
For the time being, all lectures and exercises will be conducted online.
The material for the course will be distributed on our website: https://tu-dresden.de/ing/elektrotechnik/ifn/tnt/studium/lv/einfuehrung-systemtheorie
Under the ‘Materialien zur Vorlesung’ (Resources for the lecture) heading, you will find slides as PDF files for the three parts of the course.
Under the ‘Termine’ (Dates and Deadlines) heading, you will find the weekly schedule. Lectures are distributed as mp4 video files. Please note:
- To reduce the load on the server, please download the video files to your computer before watching them (right click on the file, then select "Save link as...")
- Please use an mp4 player of your choice to play the video (e.g. VLC media player).
- Some browsers display an error message when playing the video. You can bypass this by saving the file to your computer.
For each practical, you will find ‘Lösungshinweise und Kurzlösungen’ (Hints and short description of solutions) in the table. The hints contain references to the lectures, examples and short tips. Please work on the tasks by yourself and then check your answers with the short solutions in the overleaf! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email.
At the end of each week, we will also publish videos for the practicals.
To test your knowledge, we have embedded surveys into the lectures. We encourage you to participate in these. Surveys will be made available when the corresponding lecture video is published.
To participate, please visit amcs.website and enter this PIN: esysth
You can set your own login name and password. We will publish the survey results and correct solutions after students have completed the exercises to ensure that there is enough time to respond to the survey.
