Description
This series of lectures found and described the relationships between variables. The first course – Theoretical Multivariate Statistics – was relatively challenging theoretically and mathematically. So, it was critical that complex mathematical derivations be used to attract students rather than deter them. In Applied Multivariate Statistics, we applied basic theory that students have already learned to modern methods and data using the software R. The third course – Data-Driven Statistics – taught students different statistical learning methods with applications in R. I tried to show that even highly complex mathematics can be explained in simple language.
All lectures were filmed in high quality, edited and uploaded on time to an unlisted YouTube channel (40 hours of material in total). The Chair offered practicals to accompany the first two courses, which were initially filmed and later held live over Zoom. I did my best to teach the complex methods and ideas in as straightforward a manner as possible. Sometimes, I filmed a “fun video” to facilitate learning, and I prepared an R visualization for many of the methods. I used BerkleyX, ColumbiaX and other courses as a foundation for my own courses.
