Carbon reinforced concrete technical center in Dresden
Shell construction of the technical building for the new hydraulic unit
The goal of the project is to extend the testing laboratory with and to create a testing center for carbon reinforced concrete. This serves to consolidate the C3 strategy and make carbon reinforced concrete construction usable. A targeted increase in the market share of carbon reinforced concrete construction also requires that the material parameters needed for the execution of the construction measures can be carried out promptly, reliably and with a high quality. This includes the required scope of the material tests, their feasibility in terms of time and the test quality. At the Otto Mohr Laboratory of the TU Dresden, the capacity of the material tests that can be run concurrently is increased on the one hand by supplementing the testing machines. On the other hand, the test methods are expanded to include material parameter determination under multiaxial and highly dynamic loads. The requested investment serves to consolidate carbon reinforced concrete research, but also to open up new research fields.
The carbon reinforced concrete technical center allows institutions active in science and research to coherently apply the newly acquired knowledge of construction for the first time and to validate it for the requirements of the market. The prospects of success are assessed as very good and represent a necessary preparation for the stabilization of the carbon reinforced concrete construction method. The transfer of research results into commercial exploitation is accelerated and thus the profitability is increased. Furthermore, there are new possibilities for the validation and transfer of new knowledge from research into practice, whereby innovations from the construction industry can be secured by involving both companies and scientific institutions in the resulting process. The scientific and economic connectivity is given beyond the C3 project. The investment in the carbon reinforced concrete technical center will provide the basis for further development work as well as for economic applications in the field of carbon reinforced concrete construction.
The carbon reinforced concrete technical center will be useful as an authority for the C3 consortium as well as for the construction and textile industry thanks to the coherent approach.
