Anyone who fulfills the admission requirements according to § 6 and intends to do a doctorate at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences "Friedrich List" must apply for acceptance as a doctoral candidate.
Acceptance as a doctoral candidate is regulated under § 8 of the doctoral degree regulations of the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transportation and Traffic Sciences.
An application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate is an expression of the applicant's intention to do a doctorate at the Faculty within the next four years.

Applications for the next meeting must be submitted approx. two weeks before this meeting (or by arrangement).
Application via Promovendus
Applications for acceptance as a doctoral candidate are submitted via the online system Promovendus.
Promovendus can be accessed via the Internet at any time. To log in to Promovendus you need a valid ZIH user account.
Employees or enrolled students automatically receive a ZIH user login.
If you do not yet have a ZIH user login at TU Dresden, you can apply for a so-called ZIH guest login via your supervising university professor who will supervise your doctoral or research project. You can find the application form on the website of the Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) at TU Dresden.
Your central contact person for all questions and problems with your ZIH user account can be contacted via the TU Dresden Service Desk.
An application document for acceptance as a doctoral candidate is created via Promovendus, which you must submit to the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transportation and Traffic Sciences:

The following documents must be submitted together with this application:
- Officially certified copy and, if applicable, translation into German or English of the university degree certificate relevant for admission
- Officially certified copy and, if applicable, translation of the certificate and the subject overviews with grades of the university degree relevant for admission
- Officially certified copy and, if applicable, translations into German or English of all other university degree certificates and transcripts with subject overviews
- Simple copy of the certificate of general higher education entrance qualification (usually Abitur)
- Current curriculum vitae (CV) with academic career and signature
- Copy of the supervision agreement
- Written proof (receipt) that a certificate of good conduct to be sent to the faculty has been requested from the responsible registration office in accordance with § 30 para. 5 of the Federal Central Register Act (BZRG)
Upon acceptance as a doctoral candidate, the candidate must commit to the "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice, Avoiding Scientific Misconduct and Dealing with Violations" (via application form).
Note: When applying for the opening of the doctoral procedure, proof of participation in a training course in digital form or as a face-to-face event on the subject of good scientific practice, at least four teaching units, must be submitted. Additional services
The doctoral committee may combine acceptance as a doctoral candidate with the imposition of conditions, such as additional coursework or additional examinations to be completed as part of the doctoral studies.
The following conditions apply (Section 8 (5) of the Doctoral Degree Regulations):
- Holders of a first professionally qualifying university degree not related to a doctorate must complete additional examinations in the relevant academic field of the doctoral degree sought, amounting to 15 credit points:
- If the academic degree of Dr.-Ing. is being sought, the module examinations from the examinations from the engineering modules of the main study program of the of the Diploma program in Transport Engineering or the Master's program in Railway degree program in Railway Systems Engineering
- If the academic degree of Dr. rer. pol. is being sought, the module examinations in module examinations in economics modules of the Master's degree program Transportation Economics degree program.
- The module examinations must be completed with a grade of at least "good". These examinations are completed in accordance with the current version of the study documents applicable to the degree programs. In exceptional cases, the additional work can also be completed at another faculty of the Technische Universität Dresden or at another university. The doctoral committee decides on this.
Corresponding proposals must be entered in the form "Application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate".
Supervision agreement
A supervision agreement based on the recommendations of the DFG or the Graduate Academy of the Technische Universität Dresden must be concluded between the academic supervisors and the doctoral candidate in accordance with § 8 Section 3 of the Doctoral Degree Regulations.
Note: If you are carrying out your doctorate in cooperation with a company, please complete the annex to the supervision agreement (industrial doctorate) in addition to the sample supervision agreement. This agreement supplements the supervision agreement and contributes to mutual certainty.
