Settling In
Are you an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT and NEW in Dresden?
Are you a first semester international student? Studying in Dresden, Germany, will provide you with a multitude of opportunities – however, studying abroad still poses various challenges that need to be overcome. We know it’s hard to settle in a new country when you begin your studies – but you don’t have to tackle every problem on your own!
Office Hours for International Students
Come to our Office Hour and get help with organizational and study-program-related questions every Monday from 2:50 to 4:20 pm (5th DS) in room POT 158 – see you there!
Cheer-Up-Meetings
If you are facing the following difficulties, we are here to help you:
- There is a gap between your expectations and the reality of studying at TUD
- You are uncertain about your degree program structure or the processes of the German higher education system
- You want more contact with your fellow students
- You are facing difficulties with the German language
- You are stressed and emotionally strained
- You have problems with bureaucracy in Germany (i.e. with your resident permit, housing, garbage separation…
Our Cheer-Ups offer a safe place to meet and exchange with other people and be appreciated. They not only offer the opportunity to develop strategies for coping with stress but also foster a deeper understanding of intercultural competences and how you can apply them in everyday life as well as a better understanding of the expectations in teaching and TUD administration. Cheer-Ups provide tips and more information on how to resolve conflicts and misunderstandings.
