The 4D-Community-Browser is a further development of the 4D-Browser, which was developed in the BMBF junior research group HistStadt4D and offers multimedia access to historical photographs. Durch einen Beitrag für die durchgängige Integration der Informationssysteme der TU Dresden (Forschungsinformationssystem, Weiterbildungskatalog, eLeaning-CMS u.a) mit dem Web-Portal der TU Dresden, sowie eine Anbindung der Informationssysteme an die Kataloge der Sächsischen Landes- und Universitätsbibliothek (SLUB) als auch die Kataloge des Bildungsportals Sachsen wird ein Mehrwert für Mitarbeiter und Studenten erreicht. Zudem wird durch zielgruppenspezifische Weiterbildungen die eLearning-Kompetenz und Akzeptanz aller Hochschulangehörigen, insbesondere bei der immer noch großen Gruppe der eLearning-Skeptiker, erhöht.
Das Projekt versteht sich weiterhin als einen ersten Schritt zum Aufbau eines sächsischen Netzwerkes, das einen hochschulübergreifenden Transfer von eLearning-Dienstleistungen und -Produkten ermöglichen wird. Die TU Dresden, die BPS GmbH und die Hochschule Mittweida (FH) initiieren dieses Netzwerk, welches durch aufzubauende, regionale Kompetenzzentren langfristig getragen werden soll. In diesem Sinne ist der Projektantrag mit dem Antrag der HS Mittweida (FH) abgestimmt. Die durch das Projekt generierten Lösungen sind damit geeignet, auch von anderen sächsischen Hochschulen genutzt zu werden. Durch diese regionale Integration leistet das Vorhaben einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Unterstützung des Bologna-Prozesses.
