The 4D-Community-Browser is a further development of the 4D-Browser, which was developed in the BMBF junior research group HistStadt4D and offers multimedia access to historical photographs. Der Anspruch des Projektes ist die Zusammenführung der sehr heterogenen Webauftritte und Webapplikationen der Universität in einer homogenen Webpräsenz mit der Möglichkeit der dezentralen Redaktion und Pflege der Inhalte. Das System ist als Portal ausgelegt, so daß zukünftig Personalisierung und Content Syndication eingeführt werden können. Außerdem soll das System die internen Arbeitsabläufe unterstützen und effektivieren (Intranet).
Die Phase 1, d.h. die Umsetzung der zentralen und Dezernats-Webseiten wurde in nur 6 Monaten abgeschlossen. Die 2. Phase, die im wesentlichen die Erweiterung des Webredaktiossystems auf die 15 Fakultäten zum Inhalt hat, wird derzeit realisiert. Das MZ hat die Umsetzung des neuen Corporate Designs der TU Dresden in das Medium Web, die gesamte technische Umsetzung, die Administration sowie das Hosting des Application-Clusters und die Betreuung und Schulung der Redakteure übernommen.
Das Projekt wird begleitet und gesteuert von einer uni-weiten Projektgruppe („Webteam“), welches die mittel -und langfristige Ausrichtung des Gesamtprojektes mit der Universitätsleitung, den Fakultäten, Dezernaten und Einrichtungen abstimmt.
