General information
Animal research is strictly regulated by law. All researchers wishing to conduct animal research must go through an extensive approval process to justify the need for animal use. This means that animal research is only conducted if:
- It is indispensable for research or teaching
- It is not / will not cause unnecessary repetition
- It cannot be replaced by alternative methods where no animals are used
- It is ethically justifiable and does not cause harm to animals that is disproportionate to the benefits of the research
People working with research animals at TU Dresden are asked to sign a voluntary commitment agreement.
