The third call for proposals for the Interreg Europe cooperation and exchange programme is expected to be open from 1 March to 30 June 2017. More information about this new call has already been published.

Interreg Europe focuses on four thematic priorities for regional development:

• Research, technological development and innovation (including networks, technology transfer)
• Competitiveness of SMEs (including the development of regional, national and international markets and innovation processes)
• Low carbon economy (including sustainable urban mobility)
• Environmental and resource efficiency (including natural and cultural heritage)

Within the third Interreg Europe call, interregional cooperation projects are supposed to be promoted. Consortia should consist of public organizations from different European countries that work together for three to five years to share their experiences on a particular policy area.

The projects have to focus on the four Interreg Europe priorities. National, regional or local authorities, cities, municipalities, universities, non-governmental organizations, economic promoters, etc. from the 28 EU Member States, Switzerland and Norway can apply. Project consortia have to consist of at least three partners from at least three countries, at least two EU Member States participating in the Interreg Europe programme. The co-financing rate is 75% for non-governmental organizations and 85% for public bodies.
