2016 Call for proposals for LIFE grants
On 19 May 2016 the European Commission has published the 2016 Call for Proposals of the Programme for Environment and Climate Action (LIFE).
The indicative total budget for project action grants for this call is EUR 337 million Euros. Of this, EUR 273 million Euros is foreseen for the sub-programme for Environment and EUR 63,6 million Euros for the sub-programme for Climate Action.
The Call for Proposals 2016 covers the following types of projects and deadlines:
„Traditional“ projects (best-practice, demonstration, pilot or information, awareness and dissemination projects as well as Preparatory projects)

Proposals may be submitted by legal persons (entities) registered in the EU. Applicants may fall into three types of beneficiaries: (1) public bodies, (2) private commercial organisations and (3) private non-commercial organisations (including NGOs).
The EU co-financing rate is up to 60 % of eligible costs, i.e. the own contribution is 40%. For projects funded under the priority area Nature and Biodiversity in the sub-programme for Environment that concern priority habitats or species of bird, the EU co-financing rate is up to 75 % of eligible costs.
