The rectorate and the department of engineering sciences pursue the goal to further profile and scientifically strengthen energy research at the TU Dresden. A corresponding "energy strategy" has been elaborated.

With the support of the Project Scouts of the TU Dresden, an IDEA STUDIO on the topic of energy research took place on May 26, 2023 from 09:00-12:00 in the Dülfersaal. There was an intensive exchange on current research and future research and cooperation fields. Various scientists from the field of energy research were involved. After the introduction by the Prorector Research, Professor Rösen-Wolff, and Professor Hurtado, discussions took place at five thematic desks on various aspects:

• Energy research as the basis for an area of potential at the TUD
• Sustainability management
• Security of supply
• Hydrogen research
• Energy research in the field of tension between transfer/politics/society).

The intensive discussions at all thematic desks showed that the topic of energy research is a very current topic in all areas of the TU Dresden and should be further promoted. At the end, the moderators, in cooperation with the minute takers, presented the results of the thematic desks. That further efforts to expand energy research at the TU Dresden are necessary in the near future was shown by the concluding words of the Prorector Research, Professor Rösen-Wolff, and Professor Hurtado.
