Study requirements
The following admission requirements apply to the teacher training course "Teaching at vocational schools" in the vocational subject area of social pedagogy:
The general higher education entrance qualification or a relevant subject-restricted higher education entrance qualification or a qualification recognized as equivalent by the Saxon State Ministry of Culture or by legal regulation or by the responsible state authority.
The course is modularized and has a standard period of study of 10 semesters (including state examination).
If no relevant professional training can be proven, a twelve-month professional internship must be completed as part of the course.
A pre-study internship is not specified as a requirement in the study regulations.
However, we recommend that you complete a pre-study internship, as the proportion of internships in the degree course is very high and a pre-study internship can take some of the pressure off you during your studies. The internship can
- in day care centers for children (according to § 22 SGB VIII)
- in youth work (according to §§ 11-14 SGB VIII)
- in educational assistance (according to §§ 27-35 SGB VIII) or
- in other fields of social pedagogy, provided that the work is predominantly social pedagogical in nature.
These other fields of work are, for example, public offices (e.g. youth welfare office, social welfare office, health authority), the health service (e.g. social services in hospitals, social psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry), care for the elderly, work with the disabled, school social work and socio-cultural work (if not part of youth work).
A school orientation internship is not explicitly required, but is also recommended if you are not familiar with the vocational school system.
