The workshops and laboratories at the Faculty of Educational Sciences
In Educational Sciences, the term “workshop” stands for a form of learning, in which practical and self-active learning, learning through one’s own experiences, and inquiry-based learning are emphasized. There are various workshops and labs at the faculty. You can find detailed information on both of the following pages:
Workshops for Teaching, Learning, Research and Laboratories
Chemistry laboratories
The prospective teachers of chemistry, chemical engineering, color technology and WTH develop their experimental skills in our modern, well-equipped chemistry laboratories for the safe use of school-relevant, interesting and sometimes spectacular experiments. Particular emphasis is placed on consistent compliance with health, work, fire and environmental protection under school conditions.
Educational Science Teaching & Research Workshop (ELF)
The ELF is aimed at all students who are interested in gaining new teaching and learning experiences and reflecting on these together.
The program includes
-
the certificate lehren.lernen,
-
collegial case consultation,
-
competence training and
-
a tutoring program.
Early education research and teaching laboratory
The "Early Education Research and Teaching Laboratory" is a laboratory of the Chair of Social Pedagogy at the TUD Dresden University of Technology.
It offers students and researchers various opportunities, in particular
-
practical insights into early educational fields of work
-
the implementation and evaluation of research projects
-
the testing of didactic concepts
-
the combination of theory and practice in social pedagogy
-
Space for observing, analyzing and reflecting on educational processes
The laboratory thus serves as an interface between scientific research, university teaching and early education practice.
The ArtLab sees itself as an innovative teaching-learning format for testing a new type of primary school-specific art education. Conceptually, it moves between a studio - as a place for independent artistic practice and aesthetic research - and a learning workshop - as a space for open, process-oriented and diverse educational opportunities.
This combination creates a hybrid educational space that interweaves aesthetic practice, reflection and didactic experimentation. The KunstLabor thus opens up an innovative perspective on teaching and learning in the subject of art by systematically combining artistic self-activity, research-based learning and experimental forms of mediation.
Teaching and experimental kitchen
Students studying Teacher Training - Middle Schools and the vocational Department of Food, Nutrition and Home Economics will find optimal conditions in the teaching and experimental kitchen to acquire and deepen their basic knowledge and practical skills in the field of nutrition and consumer education. In close cooperation with the seminar rooms, they have the opportunity to combine theoretical content with practical experience in a targeted manner and to test themselves in a variety of teaching-learning arrangements. Since the summer semester 2025, the faculty has also had a bromatology laboratory in the new faculty building MS 1 (room 162), which opens up additional opportunities for experimental and science-oriented work.
At the TUDDresden University of Technology (TU Dresden), theLernLaborFarbe explores the topic of color according to the guiding principle of
"Experience, discover and understand color" in an interdisciplinary way.
Here, scientists and students present phenomena and current research questions relating to color and light in a target group-oriented way. The offers are aimed at different age and interest groups - from school classes and teachers to students and the interested public.
The focus is on
-
illustrative experiments on color and light phenomena
-
Insights into scientific, creative and technical aspects of color research
-
Communicating current research in an understandable and practical way
The LernLaborFarbe thus combines scientific research with innovative educational work and makes color phenomena directly tangible.
Elementary school learning and research workshop (LuFo)
The elementary school learning and research workshop sees itself as a space for self-organized, exploratory and research-based learning for students and teachers. It offers a stimulating learning environment in which student-activating methods and diverse teaching materials can be introduced, tested and further developed. The aim is to support forms of self-determined learning and to develop practical didactic options.
A central component is the process of developing and testing one's own ideas for lesson and material design. This process is intended to stimulate a differentiated perception, analysis and critical reflection of children's learning processes.
In addition, the learning and research workshop serves as a place for initiating, supporting and implementing (student) research projects. It thus combines theory, practice and research and contributes to the professional development of prospective and practicing teachers.
Health and care learning workshop
The Learning Workshop of the Chair of Health and Nursing / Vocational Didactics is a place of learning for students that offers the following opportunities:
-
Exchange on questions and problem areas in the field of teaching and learning in the educational programs of the health professions.
-
Preparation and follow-up of course content.
-
Exploration and analysis of curricula of selected educational programs in the healthcare professions.
-
Designing learning situations and developing appropriate learning materials.
The BTHTFT internship room is primarily available to teachers and student teachers in the vocational Departments of Construction Technology, Wood Technology and Color Technology and Interior Design. Thanks to its well-balanced technical equipment, modern devices and functional furnishings, the room can be used in a variety of ways. It is suitable both as an experimentation and testing laboratory for practical projects and as a workshop for manual exercises or as a seminar room for theoretical teaching units and group work. This flexibility makes the room a central learning and working space that optimally combines practical experience and theoretical learning.
The faculty's PC pool is managed by the faculty's own IT team. Professional software for computer-based text analysis, statistical analysis or video editing is provided in our PC pool MS1 / 313. The room is managed by the Faculty's IT Service team and is primarily used for courses. For room booking requests, lecturers and students should contact the Faculty's IT Service team. ew-it@tu-dresden.de.
The media lab is a space for developing and testing didactic media for vocational education and training. It is available to small groups for projects, courses and experimental work and can be used for questions of media research and development. Depending on requirements, the lab offers several flexible workstations that can be individually designed and adapted to the respective research or development task. If you require space, please contact the lab management at .
