Das Thema seiner Dissertation lautet: Honour, Shame and Status: A Study on Elite Dynamics and Behaviours in Ancient Greece between the 10th and 6th Centuries B.C.

- Greek aristocracies and elites
- Greek ethnic identities, with special attention to Greek ethnē
- Citizenship and the social aspects of warfare and martial ideologies

- Phoenician diaspora and Early Iron Age settlements in the Western Mediterranean
