Aerospace in mechanical engineering plays a role - forecast for 2025: new jobs and stable prospects

The aerospace industry is optimistic about 2025. According to the latest association survey by the Institute of German Business in Cologne, aerospace industry associations are expecting a moderate increase in production and an increase in the number of employees. This makes the industry one of the few sectors that is growing despite difficult economic framework conditions. Investments are expected to remain at a stable level. The resolutions passed by the Conference of Minister Presidents on December 12, 2024 also underline the central importance of the industry for science, the economy and security in Germany(BLDI).
The European Union alone is investing over 14.6 billion euros in innovative space technologies and services between 2021 and 2027, with a particular focus on European start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises(ESA Space).

The Mechanical Engineering degree program offers a comprehensive basic education, after which it is possible to specialize in aerospace engineering. Among other things, students develop their own drones and rovers, carry out measurements on ILR's own aircraft, develop rockets, satellites and future propulsion systems - a perfect basis for getting started in a growing industry.
