Circle of Friends and Supporters of the ITM at TU Dresden

The Association for the Promotion of the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology was founded in Dresden on November 21, 1991. The association currently (as of 09/2022) has a total of 70 members (25 companies, 45 individuals), which are made up of companies from the textile and clothing industry, lightweight construction, test equipment manufacturers, various institutions and individuals from all over Germany.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. h. c. P. Offermann, who in October 2005 handed over the management of the Institute and the Chair of Textile Technology to his successor Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dipl.-Wirt. Chokri Cherif, was elected Honorary Chairman of the Friends and Sponsors of the ITM of the TUD Dresden University of Technology e. V. on October 7, 2005.

In April 2017, Dr. Aibibu took over the role of Managing Director of the Friends and Sponsors' Association. The election took place in accordance with the Articles of Association at the 2017 General Assembly. The members of the Circle of Friends would like to thank Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Sybille Krzywinski, who has carried out this function with the utmost conscientiousness and pleasure, for her many years of commitment. We wish Dr. Aibibu every success in her new role.

In June 2025, on the 100th anniversary of the Institute, Mr. Bauer and Dr. Aibibu will hand over their offices to new hands: We warmly welcome Mr. Thomas Zocher, Managing Director of thoenes® Dichtungstechnik GmbH, which is firmly rooted in Saxony and at ITM, as the new Chairman of the Board. We are also looking forward to the future cooperation with Dr. Paul Penzel, who will provide new impetus as the new Managing Director with strong professional and personal ties to ITM.

Purpose of the association:

To promote research and training at the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology:

• Stimulation of research tasks
• Scientific exchange of experience on current research projects
• Financial support of research tasks for the acquisition of equipment or machines
• Support for the publication and transfer of research results for rapid use in practice
• Promotion of education through financial support for student excursions and to improve equipment for internships
• Promoting and supporting very talented students and young scientists
• Dissemination of information on opportunities for attendance studies (5 years), Master's degree courses (2 years) and doctoral studies at the ITM of TU Dresden
• Support for the German textile and clothing industry

We are interested in your cooperation in our association. If you are also interested in working together for mutual benefit, we look forward to receiving your declaration of intent. You can also make earmarked donations. In addition, the amount of the annual contribution is left to the self-assessment of each member. Members and non-members can also make donations of any amount to the association.
