Dr. Vinita Bhardwaj completed her PhD on fluorescent sensors at the National Institute of Technology in Surat, India, in 2022. Since then, she has been working as an Assistant Professor at Mahisagar Science College in Lunawada, India.
As part of the fellowship, Dr. Bhardwaj will investigate the potential of semiconductor nanocrystals, especially quantum dots and nanoplatelets, for various sensor applications. Her project will contribute to the development of innovative platforms that utilise semiconductor nanomaterials in a sensor device. By chemically modifying them and improving their quantum efficiency, their functionality can be precisely tailored to achieve near-infrared fluorescence, enabling their application in biosensing and cell imaging. The results of their project will serve as a starting point for future funding applications in both basic and applied research. In addition, the project results will be integrated into a physical chemistry course. Dr. Bhardwaj is further involved in teaching in the form of seminars and group meetings.
Dr. Bhardwaj's research interests include sensor technology, quantum dots and nano- and supramolecular chemistry. Her research aims to develop novel sensor platforms with increased sensitivity and selectivity. Possible fields of application include environmental monitoring and health diagnostics.
