Experimental Particle Physics
We are searching for new particle physics phenomena beyond the predictions of the Standard Model. These may manifest as additional Higgs bosons, heavy gauge bosons or resonant excitations of gravitons. For our particle searches we are analysing data of high-energy proton-proton collisions which are collected by the ATLAS-Detektor at the Large Hadron Collider, LHC, at CERN. Furthermore, we develop new readout and trigger electronics for the Liquid Argon Calorimeters of the ATLAS detector in preparation of the high-luminosity running of the LHC.
We apply our knowledge in detector operation and digital electronics in the development of measurement and detector techniques for applications in medical radiation therapy, for example in radiation detection for proton therapy, in collaboration with the Oncoray-Centre in Dresden.
