Study Bridge
Do you need help deciding what to study?
Do you want to know what life at university is like and what you can expect from your desired degree program? And maybe you would like to find this out and stay comfortable at home, because Dresden is more than a stone’s throw away?
Then Study Bridge is the right option for you!
We support pupils in grades 10–13 who live in Saxony and attend a Gymnasium secondary school in their path to becoming a university student.
We build you a bridge between school and university!
Are you drawing a blank when it comes to study and career orientation? You have no idea what to expect and what you should look out for?
We want to support you with our mentoring program:
Mentoring is a highly personalized relationship between an experienced person (mentor) and a somewhat less experienced person (mentee). The primary focus is on the needs of the mentee, but this does not exclude the opportunity for both parties to share their knowledge and experiences during the mentoring period. Communication between the mentee and the mentor is at the core of mentoring. It all revolves around passing on knowledge and experience. Mentoring is a personal learning process that takes place in a safe environment. The relationship between the two partners is voluntary and should proceed on the basis of equality and trust, despite differences in age and experience.
It is crucial to note that the development of the relationship does not come about by the mentor presenting the mentee with pre-made solutions, but by jointly discussing and critically observing the mentee’s expectations and perceptions.
And you can make use of our Study Bridge from home if Dresden is too far away to visit!
Are you looking for mentoring in one of these fields of study? Then you’re in the right place!
Mathematics and Natural Science
Civil and Environmental Engineering
Study Bridge is open to all pupils in grades 10 to 13 who attend a Gymnasium secondary school in a region surrounding Dresden and want to study at university.
The program is free of charge and you can register at any time. Our courses are offered each semester in spring (starting in April) and in fall (starting in November).
All you need to do is read through our terms and conditions, print out the registration form, fill it out and if you are under 18, have your parent or guardian sign it for you. Then send the registration form back to us via email or post. You’ll find our contact details at the end of this page.
If you are still unsure after completing the program, you can register again – you can participate in the program as many times as you like.
Are you a young woman attending a school in Dresden and you want to know more about pursuing a degree in science? Then take a look at our mentoring program for girls!
Within 7 days, you will get a confirmation from us that we received your application and we will invite you to the next kick-off event at TU Dresden.
At the event, you can expect a program orientation and you will receive initial information on your chosen degree program. You will also get to know all of the other program participants and many of our student mentors.
At the end of the event, one of our experienced students will be assigned as your mentor and you can design your personal mentoring program as suits both of you.
During the next six months (for the duration of a semester) you can either meet up online or you could come to the university when you have time and participate in a few events.
You and your mentor can plan the program as best suits you both. Meet whenever you both feel like it and have time – this could be in the afternoon or during school vacations. Would you like to visit a lecture in the morning with your mentor? Let us know about 10 days in advance, and we can provide you with a certificate of participation to submit to your school.
After completing the program, you’ll get a certificate from us!
Work together with your mentoring partner to set up your own personal mentoring program. Define the goals of your mentoring program and discuss how much time you can and want to invest. Keep your schedule in mind – you still need to leave enough time for your schoolwork and hobbies.
