University City Dresden
Dresden is considered one of the best cities to live in Germany and it is called the 'Florence on the Elbe' for good reasons. The comparatively low rents and cost of living are very inviting. Students can find affordable housing both at the Studentenwerk Dresden [student union] and on the commercial housing market.
Dresden is known for its diverse cultural events. Visits to cabarets, trendy pubs, museums, theaters, opera and concert halls, cinemas, or music festivals are just as much a possibility as activities in the many sports facilities or the surrounding nature of the Elbe landscape, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, and the Erzgebirge/Ore Mountains. Incidentally, Dresden is considered the unofficial capital of student clubs, and the trendy Neustadt district ensures an exciting nightlife. If you want to get out of Dresden, Berlin, Prague, Leipzig, and Wroclaw are easy to reach.
Families are supported by many services in Dresden. This family-friendly attitude also continues at TU Dresden. As a certified family-friendly university, it strives to offer a family-friendly infrastructure. The two-day care centers of the student union help to balance studies and family.
