No matter what direction you wish to take, TU Dresden offers a wide range of subjects ranging from natural sciences, engineering, transport and traffic sciences, linguistics, literature and cultural studies, business and economics, education, forest sciences, geosciences, hydrosciences, as well as computer science and medicine. With 124 degree programmes (2019/20), TUD offers a diverse scope of courses designed for a wide range of interests.

You can graduate from the university with a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, Diplom, State Examination or even with an international double degree.

Your university years are the best time of your life. However, studying is also demanding. To ensure that new students feel at ease right from the start, there are a broad range of welcome and information events. Tutors provide help and advice and so-called buddies make it easier for exchange students to adapt to the university´s daily routine.
Together with the numerous computer labs, WIFI throughout the entire campus makes it easy to learn and work. Those seeking a quiet place with numerous resources will find it in the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB). It is one of the largest and best-equipped academic libraries in Germany.
Food is also provided on campus. Every day, around 16,000 guests enjoy their meals in the canteens and cafeterias of the Studentenwerk Dresden (student union). These are among the best in Germany.
If you feel the need to clear your head from the daily learning routine, you can register for more than 40 different types of sports at the Dresden University Sports Centre. You can also learn a foreign language or take part in one of the cultural and social programmes offered by the 75 student university groups. Fellow students from more than 120 countries can meet and get to know each other at language tandem nights, on joint excursions, by designing and building a race car, by constructing an airplane or by volunteering to help others.
Student city of Dresden
Dresden is one of the most liveable cities Germany, and is called the "Florence on the Elbe" for good reason. Relatively inexpensive accommodation and living costs contribute to this. Students can find affordable housing through the Studentenwerk Dresden or on the regular housing market.
Dresden is known for its diverse cultural offers. You may visit cabarets, pubs, museums, concert halls, music festivals, as well as the theatre, opera, or cinema. You can also get active in the many sports facilities or in the surrounding nature of the Elbe landscape, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains (Elbsandsteingebirge) or the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge).
Numerous bars and clubs, including 13 student clubs, and the trendy Neustadt offer exciting nightlife. In case you want to see other interesting places, Berlin, Prague, Leipzig and Wrocław are easy to reach and only a short distance away.
Families are supported in Dresden by the city's and the university's many offers. TU Dresden, as a certified family-friendly university, strives to offer infrastructure that supports families. Two daycare centres run by the Studentenwerk Dresden help parents balance their studies and childcare responsibilities.
