Campus Life
You’ll spend many hours of your life on TU Dresden's campus. The university campus is also an important place for guests of the university, local residents, and visitors from near and far. The campus life is diverse and is actively shaped by its "residents". The Unit Campus Life wants your help to create a campus where you enjoy spending time. It should make you feel comfortable because it combines studying and working, leisure and recreation. It is a place for all ages and nationalities.
To make this happen, we are committed to transparency, appreciation, creativity, innovative spirit, social interaction, accessibility, participation and interaction. We also network the different stakeholders in order to facilitate a wide variety of activities on campus. For us, campus life goes hand in hand with your active involvement - as a university group, sports club or simply by expressing your wishes: Campus life will only thrive with you!
On this page, we aim to give you an overview of all the activities on campus that you can participate in or that will make your time on campus more enjoyable:
Feel good places on campus
Whether you prefer cafés, sports facilities or the pond in the courtyard: Find your feel-good place on campus. Here you can find a list of places to have a closer look at.
Campus buildings and their history
Most of the university buildings are named after famous individuals. The tradition of name patronage dates back to the 1920s. Discover more about the buildings you visit every day or take a guided tour and hear about them.
Campus life despite the coronavirus pandemic
Student life is very sociable because it puts you in contact with lots of people as part of your studies. Due to online teaching as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, the opportunity to meet new people has been drastically reduced, leaving many students feeling lonely and isolated. Despite the uncertainty of how the pandemic will develop over the next few months, preparations are underway at TU Dresden for the resumption of on-site teaching starting in the 2021/2022 winter semester.
TU Dresden would like to help get you through this stressful time, keep you physically and mentally healthy, and help you to take good care of yourself. For this purpose, the Unit Campus Life, alongside the Service Center Studies and the Occupational Health Services, have created a website with many useful tips.
Student clubs
Dresden ranks as the unofficial "capital of student clubs"; there are 13 of them to choose from. The study locations Tharandt, Zittau and Görlitz each have a student club too - and help is always greatly appreciated there! On its website, the Dresden Student Club Association (VDSC) lists the clubs in Dresden.
Diversity and inclusion
TU Dresden defines itself as an inclusive university where it is considered natural to be different. The focus is on gender equality, family friendliness, and the inclusion of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses. We encourage you to actively familiarize yourself with the numerous services we offer on this topic on TU Dresden’s equal opportunities website.
University culture
Discussions, presentations, events - the Directorate University Culture and the Unit Campus Life offer a great deal more than we have included on this page. Have a look at our website.
Equal opportunities
Equality policy is a core task of any university and, at the same time, a major challenge. In recent years, TU Dresden has increasingly taken steps to pursue the goals of gender equality and a family-friendly university. At TU Dresden, we foster respectful and appreciative interaction with one another in a variety of ways. You can find out more about these activities on the website of the Officer for the Protection of Women’s Rights and Equal Opportunities.
