Renaissance castle Augustusburg - the crown of the Ore Mountains
When mentioning Saxon Prince Electors, you might at first think of Augustus the Strong. Not many people know about August Duke of Saxony, who was also called the Father August. Among other things, he had his hunting lodge castle Augustusburg - an enduring monument. On, Saturday, November 12th, we will take the “Erzgebirge” train through the romantic Zschopautal to one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in central Europe. We will learn interesting and surprising facts about the castle’s history before indulging in a delicious dinner in the castle restaurant. We will also ascend to the panorama tower and enjoy the fantastic view over the surrounding Ore Mountains.
