Dec 10, 2016; Excursion
Freiberg - Mining and Technology
Freiberg is known as Germany´s silver town, and that is not without a reason: More than 5000 tons of silver have been brought from the local underground mines over the years. We will visit a silver mine with more than 800 years of tradition and is still in use for research and teaching. On Saturday, December 10th, we will go down the pit and discover the history of ancient mining of the 19th and 20th century, 150 meters underground. Afterwards, we will experience Advent traditions above ground at the Freiberger Christmarkt, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany.
Included in the price:
- Guided tour of the mine
- Lunch
- Visit of the Freiberger Christmarkt
