General information about the degree program
Business Education and Management Training is an interdisciplinary degree program that unites economics, educational science and pedagogy. During your studies you will acquire profound knowledge in economic fields, such as business administration, economics and management, as well as in business education and psychological fields, such as economic didactics, teaching and learning theories and curriculum development. The program combines theoretical and practical elements and allows you to apply and reflect on your theoretical knowledge in practice (e.g. in internships or projects).
Study contents
Business Economics and Management Training can be studied in either study track I or study track II.
Study track I has a strong focus on business and economics. Your choice of modules includes business education, business administration and economics, methods and procedures, research design and supplementary qualifications.
Study track II combines business and economics with one of the following general education subjects (qualifying subjects): German, English, Ethics/Philosophy, French, History, Computer Science or Mathematics. The degree in study track II is a mandatory requirement to enter the teacher training program (Referendariat) in Saxony and subsequently become a teacher at a state vocational school.
In both study tracks, you can set your own focus according to your individual interests and thus shape your profile. You can choose modules from various profiles, e.g. Accounting and Finance, Learning and Human Resource Management, Management and Marketing, Operations and Logistics Management, and Sustainability Management and Energy Economics. Learn more about the profiles via the links behind their names!
The Master’s degree program in Business Education and Management Training follows a learning-centered approach and focuses on your active participation in the teaching-learning process. Seminars, exercises and internships are therefore the predominant forms of teaching and learning - preferably in rather small, learning-intensive groups.
The total workload for both study tracks equals 120 credit points. The program concludes with the Master's thesis, which involves the independent scientific study of a business education related research question. Methodologically as well as thematically, you will be supported by modules in the field of research design and by a supervisor from the chair.
Please visit the website of the program for more detailed information on its structure and content!
