Successful review of the environmental management system - TUD environmental report published
In the first week of December, TU Dresden's EMAS environmental management system was evaluated by external experts. The review was again successful. The experts acknowledged the TUD's activities to continuously improve its environmental performance and found no deviations from the EMAS regulation.
This year saw the ninth revalidation of the environmental management system introduced in 2003. In addition to the TUD campus, the Tharandt and Botanical Garden sites and the Faculty of Medicine were also examined. The program included inspections of laboratories and workshops as well as discussions in the individual organizational units of the TUD and with the Vice-Rector University Culture as a representative of the extended University Executive Board. Of particular importance was how the topic of the environment is dealt with in teaching, research and operations and what opportunities and risks can arise in relation to the environment.
The annual environmental report provides information on activities in the area of environmental protection and sustainability as well as current key figures and resource consumption at TU Dresden. It is the central document for the environmental audit and also contains the environmental program with objectives and measures for the year 2025. Further information on environmental protection and sustainability at the TUD is also available there.
The environmental management system is also an important component of TU Dresden's sustainability strategy published in the beginning of 2024. It is particularly involved in the areas of activity "Campus and Operations".
