Retrospective: OER
Networking and workshop series
2nd networking meeting TDL BU - Open Educational Resources 03.11.2023
Retrospect
The second meeting of the Digital Teaching Team (TDL) BU networking and workshop series on Open Educational Resources (OER) took place on 03.11.2023.
In the first part of the event, there was interesting input from our OER experts. Kai-Michael Würzner from the SLUB began with the introduction "What are OER? Basics and licenses".
Here you can find the slides of his presentation.
Kira Lauber (ZiLL) presented in her lecture "Where can I find OER? Platforms for OER content", Kira Lauber (ZiLL) presented various useful and helpful OER platforms for the higher education sector.
She highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of the platforms, with a particular focus on the needs of the construction and environmental sectors. Her recommendations are e.g. OERsi or OASIS for predominantly English-language offerings.
Here you can find the slides of her presentation.
Anne Jantos (ZiLL) then showed what questions can arise when creating your own OER materials - and what solutions are available. In the presentation "How do I create OER? Challenges and solutions" she reported on her own experiences and requests from various TUD lecturers.
Here you can find the slides of her presentation.
Lecturers from the fields of civil and environmental engineering were also represented at the workshop with their own OER projects. Jagoda Cupac and Aline Bergert (Faculty BIW, Institute of Building Construction) presented the Open GLASSroom project. As part of the project, an OER platform with subject-specific content is to be created with an international specialist community in glass construction.
Dominik Schöne (Faculty BIW, Institute of Building Construction) also presented an interesting result of his work - the possibility of creating OER in collaboration with students and business representatives. In several iterations, a contract template for a rights transfer declaration was developed, which can also be reused. If you have any questions or are interested, please get in touch.
Following the presentations, there were two themed tables where participants could exchange ideas - OER explained and OER experienced. The speakers were also available for questions or discussions.
The Digital Teaching BU team would like to thank all participants, speakers and guests who attended our 2nd workshop and enriched it with their contributions. You are also welcome to join us next time!
We wish you all a wonderful pre-Christmas season.
