Important dates for the start of your studies

The first semester introductions (ESE) for the individual degree programs are the most important information events for you at the start of your studies. They are organized by the respective faculties, departments and student councils. At the ESE events, you will receive all the information you need about the timetable, study schedule and other important information about your studies. Please note that some dates will not be published until shortly before the start of the semester.

The matriculation ceremony is the central welcome event for all first-year students at TU Dresden. This event is part of the Welcome Day. We will welcome you on October 8, 2026 in the Auditorium Center.

The official start of lectures in the winter semester 2026/2027 is October 12, 2026.

Welcome Day on October 8, 2026

First semester backpacks

Together with the state capital Dresden (represented by Citymanagement Dresden), TUD is providing a limited number of backpacks as a welcome gift for first-year students. 

Detailed information regarding the distribution of the backpacks will be published on this website in mid-September 2026.

International Tutoring Program

The International Tutoring Program provides a wealth of information on academic organization and campus life for all incoming international students.

The STIK Tutoring Program offers support to students in the following master’s programs: NES, CMS, Computer Science, ACCESS, Chemistry, and Biochemistry.
