Bertha Benz Prize
To draw attention to the achievements of women in engineering and to encourage them to take up studies in these disciplines and pursue a scientific career, the Daimler and Benz Foundation awards the Bertha Benz Prize annually to a female engineer who has completed an outstanding doctorate in Germany with a Dr.-Ing. degree . The prize, which is endowed with 15,000 euros, is awarded annually and honors pioneering spirit, courage and visionary character - in reference to Bertha Benz.
Requirements for nomination:
- The doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) was awarded no more than one year ago on the date of nomination; the date of the doctoral certificate applies.
- The dissertation must have been graded either "magna cum laude" or "summa cum laude".
- The governing bodies of universities and independent research institutes are entitled to nominate candidates. A maximum of three proposals can be submitted per institution. Self-applications are not possible.
