Kirsten Kretzschmar (M.A.)
My employer is the YMCA University of Applied Sciences in Kassel, a state-recognized university run by the largest ecumenical youth association. As a consultant to the university management and study coordinator, I am responsible for the further development of degree programs, e.g. in the context of reaccreditation, as well as supporting the university management in various matters.
I liked the course because it covers a wide range of topics and gives you a good overview. It is necessary to educate yourself independently in the topics that interest you, because not every topic can be covered comprehensively in seminars and lectures. I knew that my studies had prepared me well for my current job. In terms of content, I notice almost every day that I can build on what I learned during my studies. In terms of skills, the course has trained/strengthened exactly those skills that I need for my work.
I would advise three things: (1) Use the time and work in depth on the topics that interest you in order to set your own priorities. (2) Do more or longer internships than the prescribed 200 hours to gain experience and hone your individual profile. (3) Exchange ideas with your fellow students: The fact that the degree program brings together people who have often completed very different Bachelor's degree programs is a great added value.
