Lorcan Carey (M.A.)
After two years at Daimler AG, I landed in the nucleus of the newly founded start-up 'MBDX Organizational Development GmbH' at the beginning of 2020. At the moment, we are made up of six organizational consultants with very different experience in consulting, coaching and corporate experience and our managing director, the former head of HR at the MB plant in Bremen. MBDX is the organizational development spin-off of Mercedes-Benz that deals with the topics of business transformation, cultural change, new work and digitalization in the automotive sector. There is no single area of responsibility, as we divide projects according to skillsets and availability. But if you were to pin me down to one, my focus would be more on leadership development and digital, scaled learning formats.
The degree program offers a very successful range of different thematic focuses, which gave me both different food for thought (out-of-the-box) and enabled me to expand my specialist knowledge. What helped me the most were the seminars on digital learning and organizational development. The Master's also helped me personally to answer the question of where I would like to develop professionally and in which fields I explicitly don't see myself.
The great added value of WBF/OE is that you will meet a very diverse mix of students with very different backgrounds. In addition to the beautiful city itself, TU Dresden also has an excellent academic reputation. I would definitely advise you to do additional internships and working student activities in the fields that really interest you alongside your studies. You can also extend the standard period of study by one semester for this 😊
