Understanding
How do we understand?
Understanding begins when you think about something, ask questions and listen. This is the first step in recognising and criticising injustice.
Understanding means that just because things have always been that way does not mean they have to stay that way. Understanding is also a step towards each other. Getting involved in something new or different also means that you can be suprised.
One begins to understand that some things are quite different from what oneself had imagined. Understanding means recognising knowledge and diversity: in all areas, on all levels, in all human ways of being.
We in the QuaBIS project understand content by taking notes, listening carefully to each other in group work and doing research. We also pass on our knowledge to students in seminars and workshops and have fun in exchanging ideas.
Our approach is to look and question things we see. We are interested and demand answers. We stand up for our opinions and give answers. Understanding is the first important step towards change.
