XR Neuro
Project Summary
XR Neuro is being developed as a virtual, interactive 3D environment designed to facilitate the exploration of the human brain. This tool will allow users to examine the brain from both external and internal perspectives. Brain atlases will be projected onto the cortex, enabling users to select specific brain regions and access detailed information about their functions and connectivity.
The objectives of the project are two-fold:
- Educational Resource: To function as a teaching aid, helping to explain brain functions and dysfunctions to students.
- Research Tool: To act as an interactive visualization tool for researchers, allowing them to present research findings in an intuitive manner, enhancing the understanding of observed phenomena, and generating new hypotheses.
Additionally, XR Neuro will provide an interactive environment for researchers to share findings and brainstorm new ideas collaboratively. The project utilizes Unity3D for interactive visualization, with support for VR Headsets such as the Meta Quest 3.
This project is a collaborative effort between the Brain Dynamics and Imaging Methods research group of the Section of Systems Neuroscience at the Department of Psychiatry and the Chair in Immersive Media at the Institute of Software and Multimedia Technology, Technische Universität Dresden.
