XR for Large Scale Human-in-the-loop Simulation
At IXLAB, we are developing mixed reality systems for immersive human-in-the-loop simulation of dynamic architectural scale human-machine systems, such as factories, warehouses, transport hubs or supermarkets.
Wireless mixed reality headsets allow immersive simulation of large structures at true-to-life scale. Entire buildings can now be visualised at 1:1 scale, allowing architects or designers to investigate the human dimensions of designs before construction. Multi-user simulation allows users to experience these simulations together, and the mixed reality display permits a seamless blend of real and virtual elements.
Such simulations will be increasingly important for the design, training and testing of complex systems in which humans collaborate and interact with autonomous machines and robots. Using MR simulation with both humans and software "in-the-loop", we can test and validate virtual machines in "the real world" before physical deployment.
MR interfaces also provide wide range of opportunities for in situ visualisation of how autonomous machines "see" and "understand" the world.
