Portrait of Professor Wagemans
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Anja Maria Wagemans is holder of the Chair of Food Engineering at the Institute of Natural Materials Technology since March 1, 2024.
Without food technology, we would not be able to feed the world's growing population and achieve our climate targets even less.
Being a professor is literally a vocation for me, as I can combine my passion for food engineering with my enthusiasm for supporting and developing young scientists.
Students should question everything and not let up until they have understood an issue (there are no stupid questions).
In the future, I would like to put my heart and soul into training students and designing the new Master's degree program and, together with my team, continue to answer fundamental questions and work on application-oriented projects with industry on novel and sustainable foods.
If I could study again, I would pursue even more extracurricular activities (languages, internships abroad, social engagement, etc.), as the ability to think across disciplines and "out of the box" is becoming increasingly important in professional life.
Excellence is what happens when motivated scientists can develop in a safe space where they are allowed to make mistakes and thus learn effectively from each other.
