The following list shows current topics for student research projects and theses for Bachelor and Diploma degree. It might not be complete, for which reason we encourage you to ask our colleagues directly when you are looking for a subject and supervisor.
Boycott effect - sedimentation in tilted containers
- Objectives:
- Estimation of the BOYCOTT effect for sedimentation in the centrifugal field
- Tasks:
- Literature research on empirical data, models and simulations; identification of important influencing factors
- Planning and execution of sedimentation experiments in the centrifugal field (with variation of the rotational speed) and in the gravity field (with variation of the inclination),
- If necessary, comparison with predictions from calculation models / simulations
- Summary and evaluation of the results

Validierung eines Messsystems zur Bildanalyse
(von flüssigen Dispersionen und Pulvern)
- Ziele:
- Validierung eines neuen Messsystems (Litesizer DIA)
- Aufgaben:
- Literaturrecherche
- Planung und Durchführung geeigneter Validierungsversuche,
inkl. dem Vergleich mit Lichtmikroskopie und anderen Messtechniken,
Überprüfung mit verschiedenen Testpartikelsystemen - Anwendung des Messsystems zur mehrparametrigen
Partikelcharakterisierung - Zusammenfassung und Bewertung der Ergebnisse

Integration within the study plan
The study course "Process Engineering and Natural Materials Technology" comprises technical lectures and seminars as well as cross-disciplinary moduls, in which students practise scientific methods, solve interdisciplinary technical problems and become acquainted with industrial practice. The latter are:
- Technical internship (germ.: Fachpraktikum, MW-VNT-20):
- a 15-weeks job in industry or at a non-university research institute
- student project (commonly on the job activities)
- recommended period: 7th semester
- time span for the student project: 26 weeks

- student project at university or a research institute
- participation at students excursions for 2 days
