Erasmus+ scholarship amounts
In the ERASMUS+ worldwide exchange program, students from our ERASMUS+ partner universities can be funded for a study stay of between 2 and 6 months at TU Dresden. The ERASMUS+ scholarship includes a lump sum of €850 per month and a travel allowance calculated according to the distance between the place of origin and Dresden. A subsidy is possible for environmentally friendly travel (see below for information and distance calculator). In addition, students with fewer opportunities can apply for a monthly top-up of €250.
In addition to the monthly allowance of 850 €, students can apply for social top-ups. The social top-ups cannot be combined with each other.
Social Top-up: Students with child
If you take your child/children abroad, you are entitled to an additional lump sum of 250 € per month.
You submit the request after application and placement by uploading a Declaration on Honor and supporting documents (copy of the birth certificate of the child/children; supporting documents proving that the child/children will be taken abroad (e.g. travel documents, proof of care on site)). Information on how to apply will be emailed to you in a timely manner.
Social Top-up: Students with a disability or certified chronic disease

Information on how to apply will be emailed to you in a timely manner.
If particularly high costs are incurred during the stay abroad (e.g. for barrier-free accommodation or flight or for an accompanying person), you can alternatively submit a real cost application (long application). In this application, the costs incurred must be detailed and can then be reimbursed up to a maximum of 15.000 € per semester. The application must be submitted via the IO of the TUD at least 2 months before the start of the stay abroad.
Social Top-up: First-generation students
As a first-generation student, you can apply for a monthly top-up of 250 € if no parent/relative has a degree from a university or college.

Social Top-up: Working students
As an employed student, you can apply for a monthly top-up of 250 €.

Payment of the Erasmus+ scholarship
Please note that you will receive your Erasmus grant in 2 installments upon your arrival in Germany. You are therefore responsible for organizing and booking your flights, accommodation, visa and insurance in advance. If these arrangements are an insurmountable obstacle in planning and organizing your Erasmus+ stay, please inform the International Office and your academic coordinators at your home university and TU Dresden in order to find an individual solution together.
The scholarship will only be transferred to bank accounts with a European IBAN. There are therefore two options:
- Opening a bank account at a German bank or savings bank after your arrival in Dresden.
To open a bank account in Dresden you will need
- Passport or identity card
- Confirmation of registration from the residents' registration office
- Letter of admission to study or student ID card
02. opening an online account (this can be done before your arrival in Germany)
The first installment of the scholarship (70 %) is usually paid within 3 weeks after your appointment at the International Office or after opening a German bank account on site. It is therefore strongly recommended that every scholarship holder arrives in Dresden with at least the amount required for the first month's expenses (including accommodation).

You will receive information about the payment along with your admission letter. - Request a German statutory health insurance (costs around € 80 per month), that will be on your charge. It can be purchased before the mobility in your country online. It is essential that the insurance covers the entire duration of your stay.

- Check your email frequently: we will send you information about your face-to-face appointment in the office for the delivery of the Welcome Kit and all the necessary documents to start your mobility.
