"Does an online intervention with music, movement and mindfulness improve psychological and cognitive functions in older people?"
At the Chair of Biological Psychology TU Dresden (Interim Head: PD Dr. Olga Klimecki) in collaboration with the DZNE Dresden, Brain and Resilience Working Group (Head: Dr. habil. Dipl.-Psych. Miranka Wirth).
Psychosocial risk factors, such as social isolation and depression, are associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease in older adults. Identifying lifestyle interventions that have a positive impact on mental and social health is therefore crucial for preventive and/or therapeutic interventions.
We have developed a multimodal exercise program(REMIND) consisting of movement, music and mindfulness to strengthen the mental health of older people (60 - 80 years). The study "REMINDer"(www.dzne.de/reminder) investigates the feasibility of the online exercise program and the effects on psychosocial and cognitive functions, among others. The intervention is carried out over 6 weeks (2 sessions per week) by experienced trainers in order to investigate the advantages of this low-threshold type of intervention.
