Welcome to your start of study!
The following information, counseling and support services will help you getting started at TU Dresden, to focus on yourself, finding you way into studies and to acquire or expand study competences such as learning and time planning or academic writing.
All students of TU Dresden can make use of these services. They are free of charge.
Student Counseling and Information
An offer of the Central Student Information and Counseling Service for students with questions, doubts, challenges and problems. In a personal conversation you will develop individual solutions for your situation together with a student counselor. The consultation is free of charge, confidential and anonymous if desired.
Academic Advising
Individual counseling by an academic advisor on subject-specific or organisational questions relating to your degree program.
- Psycho-social Counseling
Counseling for personal problems and crises such as work difficulties, examination anxiety, lack of self-esteem, problems in the social environment, addiction problems and depressive moods - Social Counseling Service
Independent and objective advice in case of social or financial problems during student life -

Information and counseling on topics such as financing, study organization with child(ren) and childcare

Study Groups
This offer of the Writing Center and the Central Student Information and Counseling Service helps you to prepare long-term for exams, to make progress with a seminar paper or term paper and to keep on track with your studies. You can launch a Learning and Writing Group any time at the Lern- und Schreibgruppen-Börse.
In gOPAL, you can gradually play your way through important information and tips for your studies in short learning game units. It is available for:

Individual support by mentors from the start of your studies to the start of your career
Writing Counseling for Students
Individual consultation with trained writing peer tutors from the Writing Center on your current writing project (e.g., term paper)
Helpdesk for First-Year Students in Mathematics
Semester support for first-year students in mathematics, business mathematics and for students in teacher training programs
Open Study Group for Mathematics
An offer for students of all degrees that include a basic mathematical education: exam preparation, help with homework and revising course materials – with the support and advice of lecturers and experienced tutors
Open Study Group for Mechanical Engineering
This group offers help in all basic subjects of mechanical engineering (1st to 4th semester) with the support of experienced tutors.
Physics Tutorial Center
An offer for all students who study physics as a major or minor subject and would like to learn together, solve exercises or generally discuss "physics and the world" under the guidance of experienced tutors.
International Tutor Program
The "Tutor program" refers to the concept that current students (= tutors) help international students. The program aims to support international students during their studies, most importantly at the beginning, no matter if you start in the first semester at TU Dresden or at a more advanced level.

Online-Program against Test Anxiety (OPTA)
In this training you get to know about the characteristics of your fears by a self-test, you get information about speech and test anxiety and learn in different modules to cope with your fears. We provide you with infotexts, exercises, tips and case examples, demonstrated in short videos.
