Let's get started — the first weeks at the university
You have graduated from highschool, and you do not only leave your school, but above all also a familiar environment. When you take up your studies at TUD you enter new terrain, many things are unknown, huge and difficult to understand. You may ask yourself: How does the study program start? Where do I need to go? Where can I get a study schedule? Our checklist will help you, to respect the most important points.
As everybody's career paths differ, TUD offers preparatory courses. The courses serve as immediate preparation for the study program and to brush up your knowledge from high school.
Your studies at TUD will start with the first semester introductory week. We highly recommend you to attend the events organized by the faculties and disciplines. Many questions can already be answered at this first meeting. Also students of advanced semesters offer events to get to know the campus and university life.
In order to master the numerous challenges of student life, the ServiceCenterStudies, the Central Student Information and Counselling Services, the Admissions Office,
the International Office as well as the Career Service are ready to help and advise.
Furthermore, the International Office's International Tutor Program assists international first-year students in German-language degree programs in starting their studies. The kick-off meeting with the tutors offer a lot of information about the organization of the study and the campus.
A special highlight for the university and you as a newly enrolled students at TUD is the Welcome Day with the annual matriculation ceremony. The Rector and the Senate invite you to this ceremonial event, which always takes place in early October at the beginning of the winter semester. Just before the enrollment ceremony begins, the info-market will take place where you can meet all the contacts that might be relevant for you as a student. These knowledgeable contacts will be available to answer your questions and provide you with a wealth of information.

Studying means more than schedules, lecture halls, and books. In order for you to acclimatize to your new surroundings, we have compiled a few useful links.
In a short period of time, you will surely get acquainted with the campus and the university city of Dresden. Whether in the auditorium, the lab or the refectory you will know your way around and will also find the time to explore and enjoy Dresden and its surroundings.
