From 01.08. to 31.12.2024, thanks to the allocation of special funds for inclusion 2024, the team at the TU Dresden Writing Center (SZD) will be working intensively on raising awareness and training writing peer tutors and teachers at TU Dresden on the needs of students with AD(H)S and reading and spelling difficulties (LRS) in the academic reading and writing process.

In cooperation with existing activities within the TU Dresden, at the SLUB and other writing didactic institutions in German-speaking countries, training materials and handouts are being developed to better advise and support students with AD(H)S and LRS in reading and writing processes during their studies.

In a first step, the state of research and existing projects will be analyzed and surveys conducted with students, peer tutors and teachers.

Ongoing surveys

These results will be discussed in a workshop at the writing peer tutor conference at the end of September and initial recommendations will be derived from them. By December, training materials and further training workshops for the writing peer tutors and Advisors of the Writing Center as well as handouts and consulting concepts for teachers will be developed on the basis of the surveys and the state of research. The handouts will be included in the teaching consultations at the SZD and published on the website for free access.
