Study orientation
Study orientation and decision
In events on choosing and deciding on a course of study (e.g. during the introductory week), you will look at your strengths, interests and wishes and learn to assess them realistically. A mentoring program and individual advising and coaching offers will help you to find your way around the university landscape and to use suitable advice and support services if necessary. This will help you find a suitable degree program at the end of the orientation program.
soft skills
In addition to specialist knowledge, interdisciplinary skills are also of central importance for successful studies and a successful career start. By acquiring soft skills, you will be able to solve problems successfully and responsibly in your studies and career. As part of the event series "Studying efficiently - practical tips and clever strategies for your academic success" (offered by the Center for Key Competencies), you can train soft skills such as learning, work and presentation techniques as well as time and self-management.
Academic reading and writing
During your studies, you will read a wide range of specialist literature, e.g. to present your acquired knowledge in exams, presentations or written work. In the "Fundamentals of Academic Reading and Writing" course series (offered by the Writing Center), you will learn basic methods, forms and rules of academic writing that will help you read and evaluate academic texts and write academic papers.
Language courses
To improve your language skills, you can attend an English course at B1 level (according to CEFR) during the orientation program. For all international prospective students, we offer a German as a foreign language course. The language courses are run by the Teaching Center for Languages and Regional Studies (LSK) at TU Dresden.
