Habitats for Birds
An important concern is to increase biodiversity on the campus. Due to the proven high avifaunistic importance of the campus, targeted measures are being implemented for several bird and bat species. In the course of construction measures on buildings, species protection is now increasingly being taken into account. During the renovation of the Beyer Building, the quarters, e.g. of swifts and bat species, were preserved or additionally created.
Nesting boxes for the campus
In January 2018, ten nesting boxes - eight tit boxes and two half-cave boxes - were installed on the central campus in a joint action of the student environmental initiative (tuuwi) and the environmental protection group.
The nesting boxes were financed from the donations of the pencil collection at the TU Dresden and by the Society of Friends and Sponsors of the TU Dresden e. V. and were manufactured in the workshops of the Lebenshilfe Dresden. Further nesting boxes can be attached. Therefore, please contact the environmental protection group if you observe increased flying activities of birds or incubation in unsuitable locations, such as rubbish bins.
