Environmental Guidelines of TU Dresden
TU Dresden wants to create a setting in which environmental protection is taken into account and in which all university members are encouraged to observe this. TU Dresden is a role model for society, business and politics and respects the needs of future generations. It strives for continuous improvement of environmental protection in all fields of activity beyond the legally required level.
1. Information and motivation: TU Dresden initiates and supports responsible and sustainable development both within and outside the university. To this end, TU Dresden brings relevant internal and external stakeholders together and attaches great importance to transparent process design. All university members are involved in the development. TU Dresden presents its environmental protection activities in an annual environmental report and on the website tu-dresden.de/umwelt.
2. Education and research for sustainable development: TU Dresden assumes social responsibility by supporting education for sustainable development and lifelong learning. It also raises awareness amongst university members of the challenges and opportunities for sustainable development through education and training. In addition to the regular courses, TU Dresden promotes an offer for students on environmental education and the interdisciplinary and participatory exchange of knowledge. TU Dresden implements its scientific expertise to actively promote research topics for sustainable development and to strengthen interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary exchange.
3. Resource management: TU Dresden uses resources responsibly and reduces the negative environmental impact of its operations to a level that is acceptable for a university. Resource efficiency is further increased through improved monitoring, the further development of indicators and the integration of research and teaching into this process.
4. Mobility: TU Dresden promotes environmentally friendly and barrier-free mobility for all university members as required. It improves the traffic situation to reduce the number of vehicles that pollute the environment.
5. Campus design: TU Dresden designs its outdoor areas with its green spaces, paths and the connections between the locations according to the diverse needs of people and nature, taking into account the environmental impact.
6. Linking occupational safety, health, radiation protection and environmental protection: Topics of occupational safety, health, radiation protection and environmental protection are taken into account in all work and decision-making processes at TU Dresden. All participants actively cooperate in this process.
