Invitation to the first RepairCafe on 8.1.2020
Many consumer goods, such as consumer electronics or household appliances, have a short life. The first defects often appear shortly after the warranty period has expired. As an alternative to buying new goods, it is often possible to repair the objects - this saves money and natural resources. It also helps to estimate the value of objects. A self-repaired item that you know how it works can create identity and is a sign against the prevailing throw-away mentality in our consumer society.
On 8.01.2020 a RepairCafe for students, employees and outsiders will be offered for the first time at the TU Dresden in cooperation with the RepairCafe Dresden/Freital e.V. and the workshop of the professorship for primary school education. At a RepairCafe, anyone can repair defective everyday objects with help in a kind of temporary self-help workshop. Coffee and cake will be served. The RepairCafe will take place on 08.01.2020 from 16:00 to 19:30 in the workshop of the Chair for Primary School Education at Weberplatz, basement, room 1 (floor plan in the campus navigator: https://navigator.tu-dresden.de/etplan/web/00/raum/351300.0170).
You can bring along all kinds of defective portable objects (no large appliances), e.g. household appliances, entertainment electronics, wooden objects (toys, small furniture), etc.
