Information Stand Recycled Paper
The student environmental initiative TUUWI, the Environmental Protection Group at TU Dresden and the Environmental Commission have set themselves the joint goal of converting to the use of recycled paper in all areas at TU Dresden and of further promoting paper-saving measures. Over the past five years, TU Dresden has continuously decreased paper consumption and increased the use of recycled paper - but in rather small steps. In 2018, 75 tons of paper were consumed at TU Dresden, of which only 27% was recycled paper (cf. Environmental Report 2019 of TU Dresden). By switching completely to recycled paper, we can conserve natural resources and save 100% tree, 70% water and 60% energy compared to fresh fibre paper (source: paper net). Various examples show that it is possible: Between 2012 and 2018, the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital Dresden was able to increase the proportion of recycled paper from 4% to 69%. According to a decision by the city council in 2010 (http://ratsinfo.dresden.de/to0050.php?__ktonr=10918), the Dresden city administration now has a recycled paper quota of 99%. On 23rd January 2020, we will be happy to talk to you personally in the foyer of the Alte Mensa refectory about the topic of recycled paper and paper consumption and we cordially invite you to stop by our information stand starting at 11:00 am. You can compare the different types of recycled paper and fresh fibre papers or simply talk to us.
